Dear Connectional Family,

In the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa, many of our communities in the Sixteenth Episcopal District are reeling from destruction, displacement, and deep loss. As the African Methodist Episcopal Church, we are called to respond with compassion, solidarity, and tangible support.

Every Episcopal District, Annual Conference, local congregation and individual member is invited to join this urgent relief effort.

Juneteenth Celebrations

Juneteenth is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. Deriving its name from combining June and nineteenth, it is celebrated on the anniversary of the order by Major General Gordon Granger proclaiming freedom for enslaved people in Texas on June 19, 1865.

The storm struck our District on October 9th.  Since then, our Churches have provided hot meals, clothing, shelter, and more.
